Tony Khan has tacked injury time onto Danhausen's AEW contract despite his wishes.

Fightful Select reports that Danhausen's AEW contract is still technically ongoing despite expiring in July 2025. Why? Well, All Elite boss Tony Khan exercised his option to extend the deal and tack on injury time due to the gimmick star's time on the bench. It's understood that this could keep Danhausen tied to AEW until 2026.

In fact, Fightful's write up said he could still be with the promotion "well into 2026".

It's believed that Danhausen himself asked All Elite management not to pick up the extension option and keep him around. He's been ready to leave AEW for a good while due to a lack of TV time - the promotion hasn't really done anything with his character since 2023, but he did return to screens at ROH's Final Battle in late-2024.

Since then, nothing of note, and now prior injuries have forced Danhausen to be patient and sit out the remainder of his AEW contract. It's far from ideal, obviously, but he's powerless to do anything about it. Some fans online have been joking that it's All Elite who put a curse on Dan, not the other way around!

Danhausen debuted on AEW's 26 January 2022 edition of flagship show Dynamite. That was a special 'Beach Break' edition, and he received a rapturous response from the live crowd on the night. Later, Danhausen formed a tag-team with Hook and appeared set to do some pretty special things in the company during his run.

That didn't work out, and now he'd rather exit stage left. It'll be 2026 before he gets to do that.
