AEW Double Or Nothing 2024: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

4. AEW Swerves…Swerve!

Bloody hell, this sounds awful too.

Samoa Joe was always going to be more of a place-holding AEW World Champ, and that proved to be correct when Swerve Strickland beat him back at Dynasty. Swerve was visibly emotional after that, and rightly so. He's come a long way since tanking as part of Hit Row on SmackDown, and AEW's booking validated his determination to succeed.

Every champion is always one bad decision away from having the rug pulled out from underneath their feet though, and it looks like Strickland has a fight on his hands to even headline upcoming pay-per-views as champ. Other matches at DoN are arguably sexier than his bout vs. Christian Cage, put it that way.

What if AEW decides to book a quick swerve on Swerve by having Christian's entourage help him win the World Title? Or, what if all that whispering in Strickland's ear lately has been about Prince Nana's upcoming betrayal? It wouldn't make sense for Nana to bolt now Swerve is on top, but this is wrestling.
