AEW Double Or Nothing: 8 Things We Learned

7. Awesome Kong Is Still Awesome

One of the first surprises of the night came when Brandi Rhodes introduced Awesome Kong to a massive response. That changed the advertised women's Triple Threat into a Fatal-Four-Way, and the match was better for it. Kong worked neat power-based exchanges with Nyla Rose, and she gelled well with Britt Baker and match MVP Kylie Rae.

Here's hoping this wasn't a one-off.

As the sub-heading says, Awesome Kong remains awesome. She was great in TNA, showed touches of brilliance during an all-too-brief stay in WWE and even lit up screens on Netflix as part of the highly-recommended GLOW series. It'd be cool if she could stick around for a feud or two.

Her presence defo gives the female division in AEW more credibility. Fans were over the moon to see her back in a wrestling ring, and it doesn't look like Kong has lost a step since her last matches back in 2017.
