AEW Dynasty 2024: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

3. The Dream Match Is A Letdown

This is a horrible, horrible thought.

It’s often taken for granted that AEW’s finest will deliver the goods on pay-per-view and put together unbelievable dream matches in their sleep. That pressure even extended to Will Ospreay’s battle with Chris Jericho back at All In London last summer, and this is the same Jericho most deride as over the hill today. That doesn’t matter. The bright lights are on...deliver!

This fan has clocked a good few comments on socials already predicting that Ospreay vs. Bryan Danielson will be the “best wrestling match ever”. Talk about pressure. Living up to that will be some challenge, and it’s why Dynasty’s featured bout might end up being considered a slight letdown after the fact. Unfair? Yes. The way it is? Also yes.

Whether Ospreay wins or not (and he should), this fantasy epic could turn into an AEW-led anticlimax for the ages. Think that pyro business between Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley more than Cody vs. Dustin back when this promotion’s three letters were the freshest thing in the biz.
