AEW Has "Heavy Interest" In Indie Standouts (AEW News)

Tony Khan wants to reward these independent wrestlers for their hard work.

Tony Khan is high on independent workers Maya World and Hyan. Fightful Select is reporting that the AEW boss was reportedly impressed by both when they stepped up amidst controversy stemming from Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize's walkout before the 8 November episode of Collision; Maya and Hyan subbed in and stared at the lights in 2 minutes for Anna Jay and Tay Melo instead.

Backstage, Khan liked what he was seeing. Fightful noted that the pair "seized an opportunity" and are currently "in the good graces" of Tony and other higher ups in the company as a result. That professionalism is why World and Hyan were rewarded with a longer match (vs. Alex Windsor and Riho) on the 15 November edition of Collision.

In their write up, Fightful confirmed that neither woman is currently signed to AEW, "but it was claimed that the company has had heavy interest in using them moving forward". Sources behind the scenes at All Elite also told the site that it wouldn't be a huge surprise if they were offered contracts "sooner than later".

Professionalism and showing you're up to the job (literally!) pays off, it seems.

Hyan has been wrestling since 2014, but Maya has only been pro since 2023. If both are offered full time deals with AEW, then it'd flat out show the importance of maximising minutes and impressing the right people backstage. For the record, both Newell and Alize have refuted claims that they were unprofessional.

Even so, their loss could well be someone else's gain.
