AEW may be considering would be a major break from the promotion's current schedule by running house shows.

Following Jeff Jarrett's appointment as AEW's new Director of Business Development, Dave Meltzer reports in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the promotion's personnel want to wrestle more and have shown an interest in such live events. Currently, AEW founder and CEO Tony Khan has no definitive plans to run house shows, though they could fall under Jarrett's purview.

Jarrett will help AEW grow its international business as Director of Business Development, per reports. Now signed by the promotion, 'Double J' comes into AEW following a four-month spell as WWE's Senior Vice President of Live Events. Jeff's time with the market leaders coincided with growth in WWE's live business, though August saw Paul 'Triple H' Levesque jettison him as part of the company's leadership shakeup.

Meltzer writes that the key questions surrounding AEW running house shows would be how they'd fare economically and if the promotion would have enough drawing power at the high end of the cards. AEW would be tasked with headlining with "what would be considered real main events", pairing veterans with younger talent, or booking "unique match-ups."

AEW's Brief House Show History

AEW has run only one house show since its 2019 inception, The House Always Wins. Held at All Elite's Daily's Place home in Jacksonville, Florida on 9 April 2021, it was headlined by Darby Allin defending his TNT Championship against The Butcher, who won a battle royale to earn the shot earlier in the night.

Around 1,300 attended the show, which took place over WWE WrestleMania 37 weekend.

Tony Khan has previously mentioned including The House Always Wins, which was taped, as content for a future AEW streaming service. To date, the only people who have seen it were those in attendance that night.
