AEW Introducing New Authority Figure Soon?

New year, new commissioner for All Elite?

AEW might be about to introduce a brand new authority figure on TV in the new year, according to @Wrestlevotes on Twitter.

The report claims that "someone in the wrestling business" has hinted that a Commissioner-style figure could debut on an early 2020 episode of Dynamite to help explain why certain matches are happening on television and pay-per-view.

Wrestlevotes' wording hints this should be taken with a pinch of salt, but it's interesting speculation nonetheless. It's also unclear whether or not an established, played-out trope like this would slow the slide in ratings AEW has been experiencing over the past month or so.

The account did say that Taz is in the running to become an on-air personality for the company. He recently finished up his duties for CBS Radio and has been advertised for a special appearance on the 8 January "Homecoming" taping in Jacksonville.

Taz has previously appeared as an announcer for AEW on Dark, so he might be there to do more commentary work. If not, then he'd surely be in the running for any authority figure gig the promotion might have in mind.
