AEW Revolution 2021: 10 Things That Need To Happen Before The PPV

4. Less AEW Championship Matches On Free TV

A World Championship match has been used a few times in the Wednesday Night War as an attempt to boost ratings...on both sides.

Now, after overcoming his old pal "Hangman" Adam Page at Full Gear, Kenny Omega's upcoming AEW title opportunity has been surprisingly announced for TV on December 2nd. Now that, of course, feels like a big money match. But, could it have been saved for Revolution...maybe?

AEW needs to maintain the aura of the World Championship, and in some ways, having Kenny Omega Vs. Jon Moxley on free TV could be an issue for the promotion. In the summer, there were a lot of title matches on television. The Jake Hager encounter, along with defences against Brian Cage and Darby Allin to name a few. Instead, AEW should put the brakes on defending the title on TV and instead hype up the big money matches for PPV's.

The AEW World Championship remains one of the most prestigious belts in professional wrestling, however defending the title on TV on a regular basis could take away from the prestige of the belt. A prestige that has been built up tremendously over the last year.
