AEW Vs. WWE: Head To Head
7. Commentary
What is known in English football as a bore draw, at their respective worsts, both AEW and WWE are awful in this criteria. Come to think of it, it is a 1-1 draw settled by two own goals; Jim Ross barely concealing his contempt, and Michael Cole/Byron Saxton saying the most asinine sh*t imaginable…on every episode of RAW.
Bayley has a new attitude!
Here…comes…the Big Dog, and he’s ready for his Championship Opportunity!
The WWE teams squabble and say nothing of substance. The lame verbiage is searingly artificial. Nobody talks like they do in real life. The commentary is worse than abysmal; it actively detracts from the in-ring action.
AEW’s dynamic is a total non-starter—but it isn’t hopeless. Alex Marvez has no idea when he should pipe up, and not to be too much of a d*ck about it, because he’s earnest and seems nice and also very scared, but the answer even at this early stage might just be “never”. JR was great calling Cody Vs. Dustin Rhodes, but elsewhere seems dismayed at what this business has devolved into. It is his job to put it over, but he seems too put out. He actually wonders aloud how these guys are capable of taking so much damage, in a really withering way, like he’s covertly burying them for getting their sh*t in.
Excalibur is truly outstanding—very insightful, polished, and able to put across the big spots with bluster—but he’s in a freezing cold lake with two bricks tied to his feet.
