AEW Worlds End 2023: 10 Things That Must Happen

New champions galore at AEW Worlds End?! Tony Khan is feeling devilish!

THE END IS HERE!

Sorry, this isn't WWE's old Armageddon pay-per-view (although that music is iconic), but AEW's own Worlds End name is thematically similar. Tony Khan is selling the end/possible end of several things: MJF's title reign, the fabulous Continental Classic tournament, and his years-long bid to get Keith Lee vs. Swerve Strickland in a ring on PPV.

Granted, MJF isn't a shoe-in to lose the AEW World Title on Saturday night. This ongoing story involving The Devil is expected to peak big style in Uniondale though, meaning Max's home state crowd could be in for a rude surprise on the night. This might be an evening full of sweeping changes.

That probably won't extend to the women's division though, because All Elite has done a frankly crap job of building towards both title bouts on offer. Basically, neither challenger feels worthy right now, and that's a problem that'll need sorted in the new year.

A lot of treats are in store for viewers regardless. Here's absolutely everything that simply must go down in New York this weekend. Worlds End, or a pay-per-view people won't want to end?

Over to you on that, AEW.

10. Killswitch Wins The Pre-Show Battle Royale

Currently, Worlds End's 'Zero Hour' portion boasts two matches. Hook vs. Wheeler Yuta for the FTW Title, and a 20-man Battle Royale to determine a new number one contender for the TNT belt. There's likely to be a shift on that front come the main card, so AEW will need to be smart about who they line up next.

Killswitch must be in contention.

The announcers could call his win an insurance policy for Christian Cage should the patriarch lose his strap to Adam Copeland later on. Logically, Cage would try to poach his henchmen's title shot anyway, which might end up being a step too far for the artist formerly known as Luchasaurus.

He's been conspicuous by his absence lately, so this might not be possible if he's struggling through some stuff physically. If Killswitch is healthy and raring to go, then he'd be a solid choice to win the Battle Royale and add some more spice to the 'No DQ' effort.
