AEW's Eddie Kingston has explained why he decided to turn down WWE's offer of a coaching role before inking a deal with Tony Khan's outfit.

According to Eddie, speaking on the 'Swerve City' podcast, he "didn't want to collect a paycheck" and earn a living from pro wrestling when he wasn't especially passionate about the job he was being asked to do. Also, Kingston figured that he had "10 more good years" left in him as an active wrestler, and knew he wouldn't really get the chance to do much wrestling in WWE.

The outspoken AEW bad ass couldn't stomach the thought of training up an incoming American football star (or something like that) when, "I know I’m better than that, but they’re not giving me a chance".

By his own admission, Kingston says he would've "been a piece of sh*t" to some trainees because, "I'm gonna be resentful of him".

Bonus points for honesty, at least!

Further, when Eddie asked his mother for advice, Mrs. Kingston didn't hesitate. She pointed out that her boy would be happier in AEW, 'cause his creativity would be rewarded.
