22. The Dudley Boyz Vs. La Resistance - 2003

La Resistance were Sylvan Grenier and Renee Dupreee, two young and not particularly good upstarts from WWE’s developmental territory at the time, Ohio Valley Wrestling. They made their debuts as a French tag team and very quickly won the tag titles. Because American audiences obviously hate any and all foreigners, they managed to gain some pretty intense heat despite not being very good in the ring at all. SummerSlam 2003 saw the Dudley Boyz challenge them in search of their 2943854th tag championships.

The Dudleyz pretty much controlled the whole thing, with Bubba laying in some particularly stiff chops on Grenier early on. The French duo eventually got the upper hand, which would lead to a hot tag to D-Von and the tag titles seemingly in the bag for the half brothers. A cameraman would get involved however, decking D-Von in the back of his head with a camera allowing La Resistance to pick up the W.

The cameraman would reveal himself to be French sympathizer, Robert Conway, a man who was much more interesting a few years later as someone who claimed to be 97% fat-free, like a good yogurt. Fantastic.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
