The former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion was many a fan's pick for the wrestler of the year after a string of transcendent battles for New Japan Pro Wrestling, but this prize is equally as hard to argue.

He looked and acted like a megastar in transitioning to the heavyweight division, and his elegant, thrill-seeking work did much for just about everybody he faced.
