All WWE Horror Movies Ranked Worst To... Less Bad

8. Leprechaun: Origins

Leprechaun: Origins actually does a few things right.

Almost everyone on the cast manages to squeeze a pretty decent performance out of their one-note characters, especially final girl Stephanie Bennett. It's also pretty nice to see a Leprechaun film set in Ireland, something the original films never found time to do in between trips to space and "tha hood".

Unfortunately, the end of the rainbow isn't so golden.

Yes, the film's set in Ireland, but most of the action takes place in cabins that could have been pretty much anywhere with little effect on the paper-thin story. To make this borderline enraging, the film constantly references a cave full of gold and ancient stones dedicated to the gods, as if it's setting up an epic third act that never quite happens.

As for the leprechaun itself, there isn't one. WWE's Hornswoggle plays a toothy mole rat that we're supposed to identify as a leprechaun, but he is demonstrably not. Laughably, the movie gives this creature Predator-style heat vision that renders everything in gold, which seems highly counter-intuitive to finding actual gold.

Most of this can be explained by WWE Studios' desire to make a "darker" Leprechaun movie. Which, to anyone who's seen the originals, basically means they didn't want to make a Leprechaun movie. From that perspective, it was a smashing success.
