Fightful Select has revealed a pitch that WWE made to Adam Cole prior to departing the company in August, stating that it was suggested the former NXT Champion could cut his hair to refresh his look upon heading to the main roster.

It is stated that Cole had no interest in this. The company made no further pitches of this nature after he'd said "no", with trimming Cole's hair not among the final round of pitches sent in his direction.

Cole left WWE when his contract with the promotion officially expired on 27 August, having signed a short-term agreement to stay with the company and conclude his program with Kyle O'Reilly through SummerSlam 2021. This came following an administrative error that had WWE operating under the assumption that his contract ran out in December. In reality, it was July, but Cole (who has been praised for being easy to work with through all this) stuck around.

The 32-year-old has since signed with AEW, debuting at All Out 2021 on 5 September.

It was reported earlier this month that amongst WWE's ideas for Adam on the main roster was making him Keith Lee's manager, creating a dynamic similar to the old Lio Rush/Bobby Lashley relationship, while potentially changing his name to avoid confusion with announcer Michael Cole. Per Adam himself, these pitches were never brought directly to him.
