Many a boxer has gravitated towards the world of professional wrestling over the decades, and it now looks as if Anthony Joshua could someday strut his stuff in a WWE ring.

Speaking on the Alternative Sport Show, the current WBO, IBF and WBA (Super) Heavyweight Boxing Champion talked up how he has aspiration to one day work with WWE and following in the footsteps of the iconic Muhammad Ali.

As AJ put it:

“I’m gonna do WWE, because that’s what Muhammad Ali did. So I’m gonna do WWE.”

Unlike certain other boxers, Ali didn’t actually have a match during his time working with Vince McMahon’s sports entertainment juggernaut. Instead, he was one of the many A-list names brought in to help promote the first WrestleMania – where Ali served as one of two special guest referees in the Hulk Hogan & Mr. T vs. Roddy Piper & Paul Orndorff main event of that inaugural Showcase of the Immortals event.

In the years since, Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, Tyson Fury and Lennox Lewis have all had some sort of involvement with WWE – with the first three of those all stepping between the ropes to have actual matches for McMahon’s promotion.

Given Anthony Joshua's status, one would imagine that WWE would be eager to work with him in whatever capacity possible.
