Assessing Future Of 10 WWE Stars Who Didn’t Make Royal Rumble 2017 Cut

5. Heath Slater

WWE television moves so quickly nowadays that Heath Slater's SmackDown Tag-Team Title success alongside Rhyno has almost been forgotten.

Slater and Rhyno were the first ones to win those brand new belts last year. Fans were happy to cheer on the underdog Heath in his quest to 'feed his kids'.

Over as hell when he was hamming it up in pre-taped vignettes, Slater has done little of note since he and Rhyno lost the titles to The Wyatt Family at TLC. There's a sense that WWE haven't made the most of Slater's natural charisma; the guy's gormless approach and repeated cries of 'I Got Kids' made him one of SmackDown's most likeable names.

Just like Brian Kendrick, Heath is another who would've been a shoe in for Royal Rumble inclusion just a few short months ago. Missing the event entirely, Slater is now right back where he started before tagging with Rhyno.

Getting himself over following the tepid Social Outcasts idea, Slater deserves better than to sit at home twiddling his thumbs when he still gets a reaction from crowds.

Perhaps the next natural step is a feud with Rhyno. That warring tag-team partner angle would fill the void for the 'One Man Rock Band' before WrestleMania - and at least give both men something to do.
