Here's what Triple H and WWE's creative team has in the pipeline for Cody.

BodySlam.net reports that Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre will have one more blowoff bout before moving onto other things. That's WWE's immediate short term plans for reigning WWE Champ Cody. The write up also claimed that this upcoming match could have "significant storyline implications for both men".

Interesting.

It's believed that a feud between Rhodes and McIntyre was pushed to the forefront of SmackDown storytelling due to Jacob Fatu's time on the bench. The 'Samoan Werewolf' vanished from screens following a 'whodunit' attack on the 17 October episode of blue brand telly - Drew was the most likely perpetrator, so there's a solid chance he'll be in Jacob's crosshairs once Fatu returns to programming.

For now, it looks destined to be Cody defending his WWE Title vs. Drew once again, but it's unclear exactly when that'll happen. Rhodes is locked in to wrestle new NXT Champion and promising powerhouse Oba Femi at Saturday Night's Main Event on 13 December.

So, will Cody vs. Drew headline an upcoming edition of SmackDown before close of business in 2025? That's possible. WWE will need to bridge the gap between SNME and the Royal Rumble PLE at the end of January, which means they'll need some bumper episodes of TV in the interim.

There's been a lot of chat amongst fans on social media about Drew's current standing. Some reckon he needs to win big and become WWE Champion soon, whilst others are perfectly content with his whinging heel act for now.

It's gonna be fun to see how Triple H plays this one. Does McIntyre bag the belt then feud with Fatu? Or, will Rhodes hold onto it and move onto WrestleMania season business?
