Backstage Update On Drew McIntyre's WWE Injury Status
The latest on Drew McIntyre, who is currently out of WWE action.
As confirmed last week, Drew McIntyre is currently out of action in WWE due to an undisclosed neck issue, with the promotion writing him off television via a Madcap Moss/Happy Corbin backstage beatdown at Day 1 (1 January).
Further updates on McIntyre's status have been thin on the ground since the initial story broke, though PWInsider's Mike Johnson has since reported that the Scot wasn't backstage at this week's SmackDown show and wasn't due to be at any of the weekend's house shows either.
McIntyre was scheduled for medical testing shortly after being taken off WWE television. Per Johnson, there is currently no word on how these went.
Drew isn't the only SmackDown headliner to join the injured list in 2022, with Sasha Banks recently hurting her foot while wrestling Charlotte Flair on a live event.
Prior to his injury, McIntyre had spent his past few weeks feuding with Moss and Corbin on television. This originally involved Jeff Hardy prior to his 10 December WWE release, though Drew has kept it going in Jeff's absence, having defeated Madcap prior to the backstage beatdown at Day 1.
