Batista made a shock return to WWE television last night, attacking Ric Flair before the 'Nature Boy' could hit the ring for his long-awaited 70th birthday celebration.

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon had gathered the WWE roster and legends like Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat, Sting, and Shawn Michaels in and around the ring for the occasion. A tribute video package aired, leading to Hunter formally inviting Flair to the ring. That's when 'The Animal' struck.

A sinister shot caught Batista lurking backstage, pulling a cameraman towards Ric's locker-room. He then barged inside, battered the 16-time World Champion, and dragged his lifeless body back out. Finally, dripping with intensity, Batista stared down the camera lens, asking 'The Game': "do I have your attention now?"

Triple H rushed to the back. Unfortunately for him, Batista was nowhere to be found, though it now looks like WWE are about to pull the trigger on their WrestleMania feud.

This excellent angle went over particularly well as fans had been conditioned to expect a Becky Lynch interruption, despite her "arrest" earlier in the evening. Proof, if ever it were needed, that WWE can still work their audience on occasion.
