3. Terry Funk

Remember when Terry Funk retired? OK, let me narrow it down. Remember 'Wrestlefest' in 1997? That night, Funk wrestled Bret Hart, then WWE Champion, in Amarillo, in front of 4,000 fans. A stacked card came together to see the legendary Texan off, featuring plenty of huge talent including Mick Foley, Rob Van Dam, Dory Funk Jr., and most of the ECW faithful. The show was a huge success and the VHS sold quickly.

Just one small problem: Terry Funk did not retire. Not even a little bit. Funk would go on to wrestle hundreds more matches, including extended runs for both WWE and WCW in the following years. He continued to work until 2015, losing by DQ against Jerry Lawler for USA Championship Wrestling. He continues to make appearances at wrestling events and even popped up on WWE in 2016, giving Dean Ambrose a pep-talk before his WrestleMania 32 match with Brock Lesnar.

He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009 and would later induct his friend, Mick Foley, in 2013.
