Brock Lesnar's New WWE Contract Allows UFC Fights
Fresh details on 'The Beast's' new deal.
As was previously reported, Universal Champion Brock Lesnar has re-signed with the company following WrestleMania 34, and will defend his belt against Roman Reigns at April 27th's Greatest Royal Rumble event.
Wrestling Observer Radio's Dave Meltzer has now come through with several new details on the deal, with the most significant being that the terms allow Lesnar to fight for the UFC at least once before it expires.
'The Beast Incarnate' was hotly tipped for an MMA return after 'Mania, where it was presumed he'd lose to Roman Reigns. Now, it looks like he has the best of both worlds, as he can continue as WWE's top dog while also fighting in the UFC, though this hinges on him re-entering USADA's drug testing pool and completing an existing banned substance suspension.
Meltzer adds that Lesnar's new contract is a short-term deal, and doubts that playing WWE and UFC against each other was a ploy, as if Brock truly wanted to stay in wrestling, he'd have signed a longer deal.
His suspension means Lesnar will have to wait to mount his UFC comeback, but for now, it seems the Universal Champion's future lies in both sports.
