Brock Lesnar's WWE SummerSlam Matches Ranked - From Worst To Best
2. Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk (2013)
The fact CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar never happened again following SummerSlam 2013 is a crying shame. Surrounded by a tremendous storyline also involving Paul Heyman, the rivalry deserved another match. Punk had split from Heyman earlier that Summer, and the stage was set for a massive confrontation with Lesnar on Pay-Per-View. Fans were salivating at the prospect of seeing Punk clash with Brock Lesnar. Over the years, CM Punk had cultivated somewhat of an underdog vibe to his character. Whether that be as an unlikely babyface champion in 2008, or as a brash heel who claimed he wasn't what WWE wanted in 2011, fans enjoyed Punk's work. The general feeling was that he'd excel against the monstrous Lesnar, and that mindset was rewarded by an excellent match at SummerSlam. Having booed the man for months, fans enjoyed cheering Punk on against 'The Beast'. In the No Disqualification match contested between both men, Lesnar came out on top. There was space for a rematch at Survivor Series, but WWE's creative team chose to go in a different direction. As it would turn out, this is the only match between Brock Lesnar and CM Punk. It's just as well it was so good.
