Casting The Roddy Piper Film

2. Vince McMahon - Bradley Cooper

'Who will play Vince McMahon?' might just be the most commonly asked question in all of wrestling biopics. The fingerprints of Vince McMahon are all over professional wrestling like no other industry and those same prints are found on the careers of the men and women who gave their lives to its development, Roddy PIper included.

With that in mind, who plays Vince McMahon? The role needs to marry together Vince's boyish charm and a ruthless streak, straddling the line between a would-be jock desperate to fit in and a cold-blooded businessman looking to obliterate all the competition. These aren't easy boots to fill.

Despite spending more time behind the camera than in front of it these days, Bradley Cooper still feels like a good fit for the young Vince McMahon. Cooper has been in-line to play Vince in the past and the frequency with which his name comes up for the role isn't a coincidence. He also remains aesthetically young enough to pull it off, although it is easy to forget that Cooper is only a few years older now than Vince was at that first WrestleMania.

And if we need someone to portray latter day Vince, I can't look past Harrison Ford. Obviously.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
