Cesaro In WWE: Where Did It All Go Wrong
9. The Wonky Paul Heyman Alliance
WrestleMania XXX's Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal win might've been midcard fare (at best), but it was treated like a huge moment in Cesaro's career at the time. Afterwards, WWE hoped to capitalise on the buzz around him by sticking Paul Heyman by his side.
That should have worked, but it didn't.
The Heyman association was supposed to elevate Cesaro further, but Paul E spent the bulk of his time cutting promos on Brock Lesnar before matches. So, the guy who should've been in the spotlight (Cesaro) was relegated to standing around looking mean or smirking as his manager hyped somebody who wasn't even on TV at the time.
WWE's main concern here was putting over Brock ending The Undertaker's 'Mania winning streak. They couldn't have given a hoot about Cesaro really, and that meant he came across as just another failed experiment for Heyman; he didn't look like much more of a star than Curtis Axel, which is damning.
