Chris Jericho Reveals What Vince McMahon & Tony Khan Told Him Pre-Broken Skull Sessions
Vince McMahon and Tony Khan reminded Jericho of something before his chat with Steve Austin.
Both Vince McMahon and Tony Khan gave Chris Jericho their blessing to do and say whatever the hell he wanted during his recent 'Broken Skull Sessions' interview with Steve Austin.
Jericho told Digital Spy that both bosses trust him (and Austin) not to do "some kind of a wonton burial or talk about a bunch of sh*t that doesn’t matter". He says he wouldn't have agreed to do the show had it not been framed around his entire pro wrestling career - hopping on and talking exclusively about AEW was never the plan.
Even so, both Jericho and Austin deliberately brought up All Elite early in the chat to shock people. They knew nobody would be expecting AEW talk so quickly, and they also wanted to set the tone for the rest of the episode by leading with something huge.
Their plan worked.
It's interesting that McMahon didn't forbid this, or lay down an edict that meant AEW could only be mentioned in passing at the tail-end of BSS. Meanwhile, Khan must've been delighted that his company was getting significant house room on a WWE platform.
