Chris Jericho Reveals Who Gave Him The Idea To Use The Judas Effect

Which wrestling legend gave Le Champion the idea to switch his finisher?

Chris Jericho decided to change-up his finisher after remembering that The Great Muta did something similar.

Debuting the finisher as an exclusive to AEW upon making his debut in Tony Khan's company back in 2019, Le Champion's spinning back elbow has since gone on to become one of the most protected finishing moves in the wrestling business.

And while the idea of using The Judas Effect specifically was said to have tumbled out of a training session with Jericho's trainer Josh Rafferty all those years ago, the former AEW World Champion revealed in a recent edition of his Talk is Jericho podcast that the decision to switch his finishing move in the first place came after thinking about The Great Muta's own finisher change.

As Jericho would explain on the pod (via WrestlingHeadlines):

"Once again, I got that idea from Great Muta (switching up his finisher). When the moonsault starts tearing his knees apart, what’d he do? A Shining Wizard, a jumping knee. It’s so easy. But once you beat a couple guys with it, then suddenly it’s over and that’s what wrestling is all about."

The move once again came in quite handy on the latest edition of Dynamite, with a masked Jericho nailing on-screen rival Ricky Starks with The Judas Effect during the Garcia-Guevara Gauntlet match. And since being debuted in The Land of All Elite, the finisher has helped him pick up both the AEW and ROH World Championship, too.
