Chris Sabin Exclusive Interview: Returning To IMPACT Wrestling, Motor City Machine Guns & More

Did you feel Slammiversary was the best possible time to return to IMPACT, even under the current circumstances?

Sabin: It's hard to say. I'm not sure it was the best possible time. Obviously, like you said, had it happened in front of a bunch of people, that may have made for a nice reaction and made for some nice energy when you're watching and everything, but you never know. People seem down in the world right now with everything that's going on, so maybe this was the right time to bring some happiness and hope to some people. The fans liked us returning, so that's really just the important thing, just to bring some joy to people.

Was a Motor City Machine Guns return run in the cards for IMPACT or anywhere else before you and Alex ultimately returned at Slammiversary?

Sabin: No, I don't think so. I don't think we ever had any realistic discussions of returning to IMPACT. Some things just so happen to fall into place like that. I was coming back and I had some discussions with Scott D'Amore about coming back and I said, “Oh, man, it'd be awesome if we could get The Motor City Machine Guns to come back.” He said, “Oh, yeah, that'd be really cool.” So we ended up asking Alex Shelley and he agreed and it just kind of worked out that way.
