Chris Sabin Exclusive Interview: Returning To IMPACT Wrestling, Motor City Machine Guns & More

There's been a lot of positive momentum for IMPACT in 2020, so how much of a factor did that play in your and Alex Shelley's decision to come back when you did at Slammiversary?

Sabin: Honestly, it was as much of a surprise to me as it was to the fans. I didn't know The Good Brothers were going to be there. I didn't know Eric Young was going to be there. I didn't know Curt Hawkins was going to be there. All these guys just showed up and I thought to myself, "Wow, this is a surprise to me, too."

It was very cool and I think it was just a funny timing thing that it all just worked out that The Motor City Machine Guns returned and debuted on this show with all these new guys kind of like this little reset of the roster.

Aside from Alex Shelley, of course, was there anyone you were excited to see again after not being in IMPACT since 2014?

Sabin: All those guys. I've been on New Japan shows with [Doc] Gallows and [Karl] Anderson. Eric Young obviously I knew for years. Before that, I wrestled Curt Hawkins on independent shows after I left IMPACT in 2014. Just small little things. You kind of see people and are like, “Oh hey, what's up? Good to see you again.” It's the cool thing about the brotherhood of wrestling in that you may not see someone or talk to them for quite a while and then when you see each other it's like nothing changed.
