Shortly after capturing his first World Heavyweight Championship back in 2008, CM Punk wrestled Batista for the title at July's Great American Bash pay-per-view. The bout ended in double disqualification and the two Superstars never met in any major televised bout after that. With The Animal's recent return and his penchant for calling out the smaller Superstars of today's WWE, Punk would be the perfect opposition for the Washington, D.C. native. Punk is a highly skilled in-ring worker capable of adapting his skills to work with any style of performer. Batista has clearly been in the process of shaking off ring rust and trying to get back into the speed of things within WWE. His matches against Daniel Bryan have exposed him at times, thanks to Bryan's furious pace. Punk would slow down and work the type of match best suited to his opponent and thus, the quality of the bout would greatly benefit. The promos could be fun, especially if Batista was allowed the opportunity to unleash some of the sarcasm that made him one of the best and most entertaining villains in WWE history back in 2010. And if you think Bryan's comments about Batista's appearance were hilarious, imagine some of the lines Punk could unleash.
