The idea of the two best workers in World Wrestling Entertainment squaring off for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a series of matches to determine who the best in professional wrestling really is is appealing. In fact, it would have mouths watering all over the internet. Fans have seen matches between them before. The summer of 2012 featured a series of them. But in each, the actual in-ring work was overshadowed by the surrounding storyline involving AJ Lee, robbing fans of the greatness that the competitors could have achieved in a straight wrestling match. With both playing the role of babyface, the feud could come about as easily as Punk issuing a challenge for a title shot or the two competing for no other reason that respect. Of course, subtle digs taken by one another at the other's expense could create some hostility and further fuel the story. There are a hundred different ways to get to the matches without overbooking storylines and taking away from the actual wrestling, which would have been a major selling point of a feud between the Superstars. Ideally, Punk would have put Bryan over to continue the Aberdeen native's rise to the top of the industry. Punk is already a made man in the world of sports-entertainment and wins or losses hardly matter anymore. There is a legitimacy that comes with beating Punk thanks to both his stardom and the level of worker that he is. Bryan would benefit greatly from having worked with him but for right now, that potential rivalry remains but a fantasy in the minds of hardcore wrestling fans everywhere.
