CM Punk: 10 Great WWE Feuds We Never Got To See

2. Rob Van Dam

First it was initially announced at 2013's Payback pay-per-view that Rob Van Dam would be returning to WWE the following month at Money in the Bank, rumors ran rampant as to who his first rival would be. A lot had changed since his last stint with the company ended in 2007 and a number of fresh faces had emerged including Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Cesaro and others. One Superstar that fans wanted to go up against RVD, however, was CM Punk. Punk and RVD were in the WWE at the same time for about a year in 2006 and 2007, but they seldom crossed paths. They teamed up at one point against The New Breed, a faction that disrespected the ECW Originals, but never faced off against each other. RVD's departure from the company in June 2007 left a lot of fans disappointed that they were never able to feud let alone have a match together. The one-of-a-kind competitor came back right around the time that Punk walked out, so it's basically been a matter of bad timing for the two. Sure, Punk and RVD would instantly develop great chemistry in the ring, but it's the feud that fans desperately want to see because of their differing lifestyle. RVD has always been best known as Mr. 420 while Punk has made no secret about being straightedge, someone who doesn't drink, smoke or do drugs. Pitting a 2009 incarnation of Punk as The Straightedge Savior against a motivated RVD would be simply magical. RVD has proved his worth to WWE since returning, still garnering great reactions and having solid matches. He's also one of the few top-tier stars that Punk never got the opportunity to face one-on-one and there's no denying how fantastic of a feud they could have.
