6. Were Making Too Big A Deal Of It, Just Because We Can
With such easy access to our own personal soap boxes, we can ALL stand up and make ourselves virtually heard. Anyone can create a blog, write a letter to the editor, or rant on social media these days. Regardless of whether we have anything original to say, we will say it, simply because we can. Punks decision to leave WWE, and the way in which he did it, got a lot of people fired up, myself included. I found it very intriguing, and was dying to know the reason(s) why. I wrote about why we shouldnt have been surprised that this happened, and how I didnt think hed be back. It was one of the most read and commented-on pieces Ive ever done. My work was but a grain of sand in the expansive desert of CM Punk articles and comments. You would have thought hed done something far more shocking or serious. But when you put it into perspective, its almost funny how big a deal it became. And we made it that way, simply because we could. Before we had all of these forums for voicing our opinions, Punks departure would have been big news, but not so sensationalized or drawn out. His keeping a low profile added to the air of mystery and did nothing to extinguish the myriad conspiracy theories (after all, hed left and come back before). But its time to deflate the balloon and move on.
