CM Punk: 10 Things He Will Do After His WWE Contract Expires
3. Continues His MMA Training And Joins UFC
Even throughout his WWE career, CM Punk would constantly train and learn the mixed martial arts. Punk has a background in Muay Thai, a form of Thai boxing, and incorporated that into his wrestling matches. We have also seen him train with Rener Gracie and his wife, former WWE Diva Eve Torres, and become versed in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. He would not be the first WWE wrestler to make the move to MMA, or more specifically UFC. Brock Lesnar made that jump, and became the UFC Heavyweight Champion, and dominated the scene in his short stint there. The UFC is something that intrigues Punk, and we have seen him sitting cage side next to the UFC President Dana White on a number of occasions. When asked in an interview by Ariel Helwani if he had any interest in fighting in the UFC, Punk responded:
Yes. I don't think that's going to surprise anybody, and those that think that I don't belong in an octagon, I welcome that. I welcome anybody who tells me I can't do anything. It makes me want to do it more.
Another option for Punk in the MMA world could be as an analyst or a part of a pre/post show. His knowledge of the sport and submission moves would be tested, but he would be a welcomed addition to any show. CM Punk and a live mic work well together, and he would entertain the fans. While his age and size may not be in Punk's favor, if he truly commits himself, there is no way that Dana White doesn't make a fight with him happen. Punk headlining a UFC fight is sure to generate a ton of pay-per-view buys.
