CM Punk: Every WrestleMania Match Ranked Worst To Best
Remembering and ranking the Best in the World at WrestleMania.
Now that some time has passed, CM Punk's contribution to WWE seems like only a blip. Just seven and a half years and he was done, but the impact he made in that time was colossal to say the least.
From 2006 to 2014, Punk worked solidly and rose from indie misfit to, well, an indie misfit who was the most cheered wrestling superstar on the planet. However, even though he became the centre of the WWE universe, he never reached the undisputed main event spot at WrestleMania, despite carrying the WWE title into the Show of Shows in 2012.
That doesn't mean to say that CM Punk didn't have his share of Mania moments. Showcasing him as the lovable hardcore daredevil of his ECW years, to the menacing Straight Edge Society Messiah, to the New Nexus Leader, to the bona fide Best in the World, the many faces of Punk all found a way to shine on the Grandest Stage. That dream main event championship match may have only come agonisingly close, but his antics at the Showcase of the Immortals were memorable regardless.
Here's a rundown of the worst to best.
7. Money In The Bank Ladder Match - WrestleMania 25 (2009)
This was the third and final Money In the Bank ladder match for CM Punk, as a bump up the roster and a well-needed change in his persona was imminent. By now, the Straight Edge Superstar was comfortably entrenched in the WrestleMania ladder format, and therefore didn't have a great deal to prove.
That's not to say that this contest didn't have some highlights. In a lot of ways, it was one of the most inventive and impressive ladder matches on the pay per view to date, but this is only when collating the efforts of every superstar involved. For better examples of CM Punk taking to the ladder under the WrestleMania banner, you need to travel back a year or so.
An additional awkward bump at the hands of Christian, further prevents this from being his proudest moment.
There is little doubt that Punk grabbing the briefcase for the second year running was a gift to the fans, but at the same time, he was clearly ready to move on. Fortunately, Chick Magnet Punk was bound for singles competition from here on out.
