In which CM Punk the wrestling universe... again.

CM Punk gave a rare interview on the Sunday Night's Main Event podcast earlier this week, touching on a number of different topics including his rumoured return to professional wrestling.

At one point, host Jason Agnew straight-up asked Punk if he was going to be at the United Center for the upcoming AEW Rampage show on 20 August, which has been pinpointed for his potential comeback. Punk, as deadpan as deadpan gets, responded with the following, checking fake notes as he spoke:-

"Umm, when was that? Let me look at my calendar. What did you say it was? The 20th? I think I actually might be doing a screening. This isn't confirmed yet so I probably shouldn't blast this out everywhere, but we're talking about doing a screening of episode three of Heels at an AMC in Chicago and that's one of the dates that has been proposed. So, uh... hope to see everybody there."

Heels debuts on Sunday, 15 August, with Punk playing Ricky Rabies in the wrestling-themed show. AEW, meanwhile, has done everything in its power to guarantee his presence on 20 August without actually guaranteeing his presence, building anticipation through Darby Allin's "best in the world" tease upon the show's announcement and the episode's 'First Dance' sub-title.

If Punk does return to wrestling next Friday, it'll be for the first time since WWE Royal Rumble 2014.
