Comparing WWE Survivor Series 2016 To NXT TakeOver: Toronto
1. Overall Show Quality
This category is for everything else that wouldn’t fit into any other section.
The official event durations according to WWE Network were 3:26:02 for Survivor Series, while NXT TakeOver clocked in at 2:24:18. However, NXT packed their shorter show with segments that perfectly encapsulated the phrase “all killer, no filler”, as each match served a distinct purpose and was either a culmination of or an important step in an ongoing storyline.
In contrast, WWE presented their usual plethora of backstage skits, including The Club acting like playground bullies (and fleeing as soon as Mick Foley delivered a non-threatening “knock it off!”), which served little purpose other than to pad out running time. Fortunately, NXT seems to have learned that we watch wrestling shows despite the backstage antics, not because of them. Triple H’s booking has definitely proved that less is more. An extra point is deserved for NXT.
Winner: NXT
So NXT takes 5 of the categories I made up: Show Openers, Opening Matches, Tag Division, Womens Division and Overall Show Quality. WWE gets the win with two: Undercard and Men's Division. Therefore, the overall winner, with 5 points to 2:
NXT TakeOver: Toronto!
