AEW's Darby Allin has successfully climbed Mount Everest.

Per an officially sanctioned website tracking the trip, Allin and the rest of his teammates scaled the summit on May 18th at 8:50am local time.

The crew started their ascent on April, and now begin the week-long journey back down. According to Fightful's reporting on the project, the Everest process is typically a six-to-ten week operation, making June the realistic earliest point AEW fans could realistically expect the former Tag Team and TNT Champion to be back on screens. It being Darby Allin, that may be expedited to maximise the impact of his return, particularly if the specifics are kept secret.

It was reported that AEW initially wanted Allin for the 2025 Owen Hart Tournament, with him then tentatively planned to compete at this year's Double Or Nothing pay-per-view. Since 2024, the tournaments have served dual purposes in confirming the respective winners as number one contenders for the World Championships at All In. From the moment the full extent of the Jon Moxley heel turn revealed itself in late-'24, Allin was fan-cast as the wrestler to stop The Deathriders in ultimate revenge for Moxley taking his World Title shot away on the September 25th edition of Dynamite. For now at least, he remains out of contention - Will Ospreay and Hangman Page have made the final and will compete on the May pay-per-view, too soon for Darby to make it back down the mountain.

It was Allin's second attempt, having wanted to do the climb in 2024 before his plans were scuppered due to a foot injury he suffered in a Dynamite match against Jay White. Things have gone better the second time around, with Allin also taking the opportunity set a world record for the world's highest kickflip en route. The 20,958 feet trick earned him the honour, and - like the successful climb itself - becomes another remarkable achievement to add to the collection before he returns to the ring.
