2. Winning The Money In The Bank Ladder Match
Dean Ambrose’s big night started with a turnaround in his WWE PPV fortunes.
Though hotly-tipped to claim possession of the 2016 Money in the Bank briefcase in the event’s lead-up, Ambrose’s WWE big match record had become almost comical. After a predictable Roadblock loss to Triple H then a one-sided battering at the hands of Brock Lesnar’s at WrestleMania, it seemed, for a while, that Dean Ambrose was doomed to the role of eternal also-ran.
WWE hadn’t done a good job of portraying Ambrose as a believable World Title challenger in a long-time, but this changed everything. After being heavily hinted on the preceding episode of Monday Night Raw, Dean Ambrose entered the maelstrom and emerged victorious, taking a guaranteed title shot home with him.
