Did Randy Savage Help Train Shane McMahon Before His WWE Debut?

Oooooh yeah, it's Macho McMadness!

Shane McMahon X-Pac

According to Tom Prichard's comments on the latest installment of his 'Taking You To School' podcast, none other than Randy Savage helped prepare Shane McMahon for his in-ring debut in 1999.

Shane wrestled X-Pac at WrestleMania XV, and it was Prichard's job to train him for the match, ensure he could bump safely and teach him some fundamentals to fall back on if plans went awry. Savage, who was still working for WCW at the time, wanted to help as best he could because he'd always been fond of the younger McMahon.

It's incredible to think that he had input in a match at 'Mania in '99, but there you go.

Shane leaned on Savage for advice before stepping into the ring (even though he probably knew that he was in safe hands with Sean Waltman). That's amazing to learn, and it's just another example of why curious wrestling historians should check out Dr. Tom's pod every now and then. There's some seriously good insight there.

It also shows that Randy would've been a great agent or mentor for WWE stars had he not left the company years before to continue his own in-ring career.
