Did WWE Just Reference Kevin Owens' Expiring Contract On Raw?
WWE dropped what could be interpreted as a couple of Kevin Owens teases in this Raw segment.
Kevin Owens' WWE contract is due to expire on 31 January 2022, and with The Young Bucks and the former Kevin Steen both teasing a jump to AEW, his pro wrestling future remains the subject of much speculation. In September, it was even reported that WWE expects the former Universal Champion to depart when his deal runs out.
WWE dropped what could be interpreted as a couple of hints at this during last night's episode of Raw, on which Kevin Owens was involved with an in-ring segment also featuring WWE Champion Big E and Seth Rollins.
At one point, Owens stated that even though he currently finds himself out of luck, he'll continue to work hard whether it's for three more months or three more years. An interesting choice, given his contract expires in roughly three months.
On top of this, E claimed that "There can only be one face of Raw, this isn't Mount Rushmore," which may be a direct reference to Kevin's old PWG stable with The Young Bucks.
Whether or not WWE intended anything by scripting these lines is currently unclear. They happened on what turned out to be a rough night for KO, however, as he was beaten by E in Raw's main event, with the WWE Champion dropping him with a Big Ending afterwards.
