When Kevin Owens' WWE Contract REALLY Expires
The latest on Kevin Owens' WWE future as rumours of him leaving continue to swirl.
Kevin Owens' WWE contract seemingly expires on 31 January 2022.
Originally reported by Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this has now been confirmed by Fightful Select.
As the Fightful report points out, this could mean the former Universal Champion leaving WWE prior to Royal Rumble 2022. While nothing has been confirmed yet, and WWE is yet to settle on a date for the pay-per-view, breaking tradition by holding the show in early February has been discussed internally.
The same outlet broke the news of Owens' current WWE deal expiring sometime in January 2022 last week. It was noted that while the 37-year-old signed a five-year extension in 2018 (lasting until 2023), KO's was one of a number of contracts restructured sometime before the COVID-19 pandemic started impacting American wrestling in 2020 (not that the two things were related).
Owens has since teased jumping ship to AEW on social media, with The Young Bucks doing the same. The latest on KO's situation is that several people within WWE expect him to leave when his contract expires.
A former NXT and Universal Champion, Owens has been with WWE since August 2014.
