Drew McIntyre vs. 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt? Don't bet on WWE booking it...

Love them or loathe them, cinematic matches are a prominent feature of COVID-era pro wrestling, as promotions attempt to compensate for flatter in-arena atmospheres with elaborate productions that often have more in common with other forms of entertainment that squared circle combat.

'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt has featured prominently in such WWE bouts, facing Braun Strowman, John Cena, and Randy Orton to varying levels of acclaim and criticism. Don't expect the former Universal Champion to add Drew McIntyre to his growing list of cinematic opponents, though.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, the reigning WWE Champion said a cinematic match with Wyatt isn't something he's interested in at the moment:-

"Maybe eventually, not right now. I'm WWE Champion and I think, in fact I know, like the way I've been building the title, it's about the honor and respect and about wrestling. And there's room on the show for everything, a little bit something for everybody, different characters. It'd be boring if everyone was the same and The Fiend's unique character is so incredible, so out there, but I don't think that's something I think I want to mix the WWE title with."

Though not shy of praising Wyatt and his 'Fiend' character, it appears Drew is more of a traditionalist when it comes to Raw's top prize:-

"When it comes to the WWE Championship, I expect it to be in a wrestling match. You know, like man-on-man, fighting over the title with respect and honor. And that's what I'm all about, that's how I've tried to represent the title and that's how I think it should be represented. Not in a comedic fashion or an outlanding [sic] fashion, but a realistic wrestling environment."

McIntyre defends his WWE Championship against Goldberg at Royal Rumble 2021 this weekend.
