Every 1-Time WWE Champion Ranked From Worst To Best

22. Kane

This placement feels a little unfair considering The Big Red Machine was the man/demon to end Stone Cold's first title reign with the belt, but you can't argue that how he did this was slightly underwhelming.

At King of the Ring 1998, immediately following the infamous Hell in a Cell match between The Undertaker and Mankind, Kane battled Austin in a First Blood match for the WWF Championship. After interference from the previous match's participants, Mankind accidentally struck Austin with a chair, busting him open and handing the match (and the title) to Kane.

So Kane did technically beat Steve Austin, but he did so under very tenuous circumstances. As if his victory was flimsy enough, he then lost the belt back to Austin the very next night on Raw. Way to put some over, WWE!

Kane's 24 hours with the WWF Championship didn't achieve anything beyond (ironically) ensuring that Steve Austin was not a one-time champion himself. Considering how popular Kane was at the time, he could have easily had multiple reigns with the belt or even just one lengthy one, which just makes this decision all the more tragic.
