Every Active WWE Tag Team: Ranked From Worst To Best

8. Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin

Splitting American Alpha was a pointless move. The duo weren't prospering on SmackDown, but this had more to do with bad booking than anything else, and Jason Jordan has flopped as a Raw babyface. Gable, meanwhile, seemed like he'd be cast adrift following his partner's switch, and while a sustained Alpha push would still be preferable to his current situation, aligning with Shelton Benjamin is a solid compromise.

'The Gold Standard' might be 42 years old, but he's still a good wrestler, and has compensated for his declining athleticism by adapting to a slower, more methodical style. Him and Gable will likely have countless great matches together if given the chance, as their chemistry seems instantaneous.

The problem is that they've only wrestled two televised matches together thus far. This makes it impossible to rank them any higher, though their early showings have been promising enough to elevate them above the division's bottom-feeders. There's a chance they were only thrown together to split and feud, but regardless, the team has kept the highly talented Gable occupied while reintroducing an old favourite to the audience, and must be considered a net positive so far.
