CM Punk Hangman Page
AEW

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and in retrospect, this was the last night that AEW had a feeling of being unstoppable. It was a night high in incident, if not always in quality. The main event between 'Hangman' Adam Page and CM Punk had turned sour in the build-up and the crowd was unusually venomous, as fans of Page and Punk bitched in the stands, leading to a hostile atmosphere that is rarely present at pro wrestling events.

Punk would win the night and score the AEW World Championship for the first time, but would ultimately have to relinquish it due to injury a few days later. The first-ever Anarchy In The Arena match had the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in a much better mood, as Jon Moxley's 'Wild Thing' theme played repeatedly during a laugh-a-minute battle between The Jericho Appreciation Society and The Blackpool Combat Club.

Adam Cole and Britt Baker were crowned the first-ever winners of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, and the opening match saw Wardlow decimate MJF with ten consecutive powerbombs on a weekend in which MJF was rumoured to have considered his AEW future.
