10. Forbidden Door 2023

Bryan Danielson Kazuchika Okada AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door
AEW/NJPW

Capitalizing on the foundations of the inaugural Forbidden Door in 2022, the card at the following year's event upped the ante with some phenomenal matches on paper and in practice. The card was made up of fun bouts, including a great 10-man tag match between The Elite, Eddie Kingston and Tomohiro Ishii vs The Blackpool Combat Club, Konosuke Takeshita, and Shota Umino and an exhilerating Fatal Four-Way for the AEW International Championship between Orange Cassidy, Zack Sabre Jr, Daniel Garcia, and Katsuyori Shibata, but it was the one-on-one matches that stole the night.

CM Punk had a short and sweet banger with Satoshi Kajima in the first round of the Owen Hart Cup, MJF used his Dynamite Diamond Ring to see off Hioshi Tanahashi and defend his AEW World Championship, but it was the double header of Kenny Omega's instant classic against Will Ospreay and the dream match of Bryan Danielson vs Kozuchika Okada that put this event into the stratosphere.

Ospreay and Omega's match lasted just under 40 mins and is widely considered one of the best matches in recent years and one of the few matches in Forbidden Door history that had a great build-up. Bryan Danielson overcame literally fracturing his arm from an Okada flying elbow to defeat The Rainmaker with the Lebell Lock, capping an incredible night of in-ring excellence.
