Finally, things are heating up, as it's time to talk about the reigns that aren't spoiled with controversy, injury, strange booking or lacklustre storytelling. With that in mind, let's discuss the first-ever AEW Champion, the man, the myth, the legend, Chris Jericho.

Putting the belt on Jericho as the inaugural World Champion was a very safe bet for AEW. He's a decorated main event star, a bona fide wrestling legend and someone who had the ingenuity to make the championship strap feel important. Naturally, this bet paid off, as the former Y2J helped put the AEW Title and the company on the map during its early days.

One of the main vibes of Jericho's reign was impulsive creativity. Le Champion let all of his creative juices run wild, with random throwaway lines becoming long-term inside jokes (lest anyone forget "a little bit of the bubbly"). This made the main event scene an absolute blast, and Jericho backed it up with some stellar matches and rivalries to boot.

Jericho even gave up-and-comers (like Darby Allin) great showings in World Title matches, giving value to them as main event contenders. Overall, he was a fun and convincing champion who helped the promotion find its feet.
