A needless and laboured Hollywood remake of a debatably beloved 90s property that, somehow, arrived to universal acclaim from fans and critics alike? That, my friends, is the power of Dwayne Johnson. Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle should have been the Total Recall remake, or whatever the living hell Battleships was meant to be. But no, it's a 5 star family smash.

Tweaking the original premise by making it about video games (modern!) and having our lovable band of rogues play the characters within it (sci-fi!) the finished product sees Johnson playing a musclebound hero who is, himself, being played by a nervous, fragile nerd. It's a complex performance in a complex film and one he deserves far more acclaim for.
