Idris Elba declares himself "Black Superman", Ryan Reynolds has a chest-sized Maori tattoo, Roman Reigns spears a man clean in half, Jason Statham declares The Italian Job in-universe canon, Vanessa Kirby dives out of an explosion wearing a blood transfusion backpack, a helicopter is held in place by sheer strength of bicep alone, Dwayne Johnson necks 3 raw eggs out of a protein shaker and the only thing that ends up 'shook' is all the bedwetters on their Wordblog accounts moaning about the lack of cohesive dialogue.

This is a big, dumb, stupid, nonsensical, illogical masterpiece of summer blockbuster cinema and, in a world of really over-thought-out "clever" shared universe stuff, it's such a refreshing change to see a film just have so much fun with itself instead. The chemistry between Johnson and Statham is hit and miss at times, but also feels organic and partially improved. It is pure, pure movie magic and feels every single inch a passion project for its two leads.
